Also added a Flash Gordon sketch too.And a Belit. And an Ash.

Belit,Queen Of The Black Coast By Shawn Dueck

Finally!
After recovering from a nasty groin injury and sorting out some home hardware issues over the holidays, I finally finished this image. Real pen, brush, and India ink, with adjustments and colour done digitally. An homage to the amazing Buscema-Chan-Thomas run on the Conan comic in the '70's. Belit taking out a temple guard in Luxor.

This iconic cover is one of my all-time favorites:

Belit by Steven E Gordon

Lookee here...I actually did a new drawing!! Woohoo! Maybe I'll try color again one of these days....

I thought I'd lean some on Buscema's style a bit - not sure it's successful, but I tried.

Week Thirteen: Belit by Scott Christian Sava

The downside of doing a 2 hour watercolor sketches is...most of the times they LOOK like 2 hour watercolor sketches.

I really wanted this piece to be wonderful since I really love Belit as a character.

Unfortunately...this just looks like a pencil sketch amateurishly painted in. No dimension to it. Bad skin tones. Non-existent paint strokes.

Oh well.

Belit, by Axel Medellin

... I confess I have a very, very passing knowledge of Belit, but there you go... lots of toned pencil that hardly shows through the colors...

Belit gives you some... okay, no, too obvious a joke, even for me. (;

Basically, still playing with markers (which I enjoy as much as Mr. Sava digs on the watercolor.)

The scan doesn't QUITE translate the colors as I intended, but we're close enough.  Here's Belit... I tried to have a little barbarian style fun with the piece, you know.
